The Importance of Finding Time to Move

I don’t think any of us ever thought we’d experience anything like the CoronaVirus. We’ve all been affected in various ways, whether it be our health, financially, emotionally, mentally and the list goes on.

This has been a time of great uncertainty and stress and I’ve found that so many struggles to know where to begin to try and manage these challenges.

This is where I must admit that Pilates and movement have been my saving grace these last 4+ months.

I want to encourage people to find their mats and spend time on them.

Connect to your breath, breathing deeply and with purpose will help centre you during this time.

I fell in love with teaching Pilates again, not that I ever fell out of love with the method, but something in me has been reignited.

To me moving your body is a very freeing and calming experience at the same time.

Personally, I find that exercise has profound physical and mental benefits, on some days the positive mental benefit even outweighs the physical.

I often hear people say they don’t have time to exercise, I, however, believe you don’t have time to NOT exercise. We all have 10 minutes to spare somewhere and you can use those 10 minutes to your advantage and get your body moving, whatever it is!

I truly believe, especially during these uncertain times, moving our bodies and making that choice to find the time is more important than ever.

You need to also understand that if you’re maybe at the start of your journey, there will be days that you just want to give up.

I encourage you to push through, we all still have those days!

Find a type of movement that you love and connect with, you will stick with it for life.

Always remember that movement is about more than just exercise and burning calories, it’s about joy, finding your breath and taking time for yourself.
